In our SaliChem project we consider a number of halophilic plant species as sources of energy and chemicals, yet these astonishing plants also have culinary applications: for example, in this attractive sea trout recipe. PFI at BIOGAS 2015 From 27 to 29 January, 2015, PFI Biotechnology will be exhibiting at BIOGAS – International Convention and Trade Fair in Bremen / Germany. You will find us in hall 4 / booth number 704.

Our laboratory has succcessfully participated in the round robin test offered by the Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture (Bayerische Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft, LfL). A total of 37 laboratories took part. Round robin tests permit laboratories to demonstrate the quality of their work compared to other laboratories. The results confirm the high quality of fermenter analysis at PFI. 94.4 % of the parameters lay within the specified tolerance limits. | ||

RESEARCH | ||
|
PFI Biotechnology and the Celabor Research Institute (Centre de Recherche et de Contrôle agro-alimentaire, emballage, environnement, papetier et textile) based in the Walloon Region of Belgium will jointly embark on a new CORNET Project at the start of 2015: The project bears the name « Saline Plant Uses for Chemicals and Energy Production – SaliChem ». The principal focus will be on forms of biomass which do not compete with food production and can be cultivated on land on which conventional crops no longer grow owing to elevated salt concentrations. The goal is to attain maximum possible material utilisation of such so-called halophytes (salt-tolerant plants) in the PFI biorefinery concept and to use the residual biomass as a source of energy. | ||
